St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by Americans with a litany of green attire as well as traditional Irish dishes and beverages. This year we’re going a step further by promoting green foods in our diets as part of St. Patrick’s Day!
Here are some leafy greens to add to your diet this St. Patrick’s Day to promote a lifetime of healthier smiles:
Kale – Mix in this superfood to your salads.
Spinach – Sneak some spinach into fruit smoothies for children, or mix it into salads.
Broccoli – Substitute a carb snack with some broccoli and ranch dip.
Turnip Greens, Okra, Chard, Bok Choy – Add some of these to a salad, or steam them and mix them into a rice dish.
Asparagus – Season with olive oil, salt, and parmesan then broil for a tasty side. Or, season with sesame oil, soy sauce, and toasted sesame seeds for an Asian twist.
All of these boost tooth and gum health (along with a healthier body). So this St. Patrick’s Day, “get your greens on” so your smile can experience the “luck of the Irish”!
Don’t forget, if you’re going to enjoy some corned beef and cabbage or some Irish pints then be sure to brush and floss after your festivities!
